A training pack for trainers

Overview

The REsearch in ACTion (REACT) training package is aimed at people who use or have used health or social care services who want to gain skills that will help them in gaining employment or help them participate in, or lead, evaluation or research projects. This training is not limited to service users and carers; it is a useful basic introduction to research and evaluation skills for health and social care practitioners.

This training package is based on training developed for service users and carers in an NHS mental health Trust in England. This was based on the needs of the service users and carers who were engaged in service evaluation and research projects. Although most of the training was developed and delivered as separate components, this document presents it as a complete package to be used with any service users and carers who are, or may wish to get, involved in health and social care research.

Each element of training can be delivered as a separate package or it can be delivered as a whole course. It has been divided into 3 modules or units which are in turn linked to units offered by the open college network (OCN). Completing the 3 modules can provide enough evidence for participants to achieve OCN credits and a qualification at OCN level 2. Details of the OCN units which map to this training can be found in the REACT Resource Pack which accompanies this handbook.
