Selling to the NHS – A guide to the NHS landscape and NHS Procurement for Medical Technology Companies
The NHS is recognised internationally as a late adopter of innovative medical products and a significant obstacle for suppliers is navigating the NHS Procurement Landscape.
This guide, the result of 12 months of in-depth research, details the roles of each of the organisations in the English NHS procurement landscape and examines the criteria by which products are bought. It also looks at the changing NHS structure, the policies of commissioning and PbR and reflects on how these influence innovation adoption. A number of case studies also look at the ways in which innovative products have been taken up by the NHS.
Finally the guide goes on to propose a route-map into the NHS for innovative products and suggests success factors that should be considered early in the development phase to maximise the chances of uptake of a product.
Supplementing the guide are a series of half day workshops on the changing NHS landscape and the implications of this for medical technology companies to be held at regular intervals throughout the year. The second of these workshops entitled “The changing NHS landscape and its implications for Medical Technology companies” will be held on Wednesday 6th July. Places at the workshop are strictly limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis. The registration fee of £150 + VAT includes a copy of “Selling to the NHS”.
