Overview:
This is a DVD for patients having colorectal cancer or bowel cancer surgery. It was developed at York Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, UK, and tells the story of a person having surgery for bowel cancer. It covers explation of common terms such as:
bowel cancer / colorectal cancer
colon cancer
rectum cancer
colonoscopy and barium enema
preparation for surgery (including staging, radiotherapy, stoma sites and preparation)
admission for surgery (dressings, drips, catheters, drains care)
the recovery
the after care and follow up.
The DVD:
The bowel cancer DVD answers any questions such as:
What are the causes of bowel cancer?
How long will I be in hospital for?
Will I need a stoma?
What side effects are there?
